How long does it take to get tan? |
You will see results after your very first session. It usually takes 4
to 5 sessions (within a 10-day period) to get a base tan. Read about

recommend you use our lotions to pamper your skin and maximize your
tanning potential. |

What is Low-Pressure tanning? |
Low-Pressure tanning lamps emit a mix
of Ultraviolet A and B (UV-A/UV-B) light - the same sunlight you get while
tanning outdoors (albeit with different intensities & percentages
depending on how the FDA certifies each unit). Ultraviolet-B, sometimes
referred to as the 'burning' ray, stimulates melanin production in your
skin. That melanin is then oxidized (turned dark) through exposure to
UV-A light which ultimately produces your dark 'tanned' look. This
tanning darkening process develops during the 24-hours after your
session. A good rule-of-thumb is, if you tan easily outdoors - you're
going to tan easily indoors; if you don't, then obviously it will take
longer to safely build a base tan (just as it would outdoors) and avoiding
burning is always the most important aspect of tanning.

What is High-Pressure
tanning? |
High-Pressure tanning
units emit mostly Ultraviolet-A (UV-A) sunlight which means
individuals who tan very easily or that already have a base tan
will typically see excellent results. Therefore, if you're seeking a
longer-lasting dark-bronze tan, our 15-minute Velocity High-Pressure
tanning bed is without equal.

Do I need to wear eye protection? |
Yes. It's very important to us that your tanning experience is as safe
and enjoyable as possible. SunSational Tanning Spa, LLC requires its
customers to use approved eye protection in our salons, to prevent
future vision problems that can be caused by UV exposure. |

Why should I use lotion? |
Our lotions have been created especially for use in our indoor tanning
booths and will keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Healthy skin will
tan more easily and hold on to that beautiful tan longer. |

What is my skin type? |
Knowing your skin type is very important
when it comes to using a tanning bed. The sensitivity of your skin is
genetically determined, and has a lot to do with the manner in which
your skin will tan, and the protection it will afford against getting
burned.
Prior to using a tanning bed, a salon professional should determine your
skin type based on several characteristics. Your skin type is matched
with the manufacturers printed material to assist in determining your
tanning session time. Below is an example of skin types.
Skin Type I:
Usually bright white or pale skin, blue or
green eyes, red hair and many freckles. This skin type always
burns outdoors, never tans. NOTE: A person who is a
true Skin Type I should avoid tanning outdoors and indoors.
Skin Type II: Beige skin, blue or grey eyes; blonde or
light brown hair and some freckles. This skin type has a strong
tendency to sunburn outdoors, but sometimes tans.
Skin Type III:
Light brown skin, brown eyes and hair. This skin type sometimes
burns outdoors but always tans.
Skin Type IV:
Light brown or olive skin, dark brown eyes and hair. This skin
type sometimes burns outdoors and tans readily.
Skin Type V:
Brown skin, dark brown hair and eyes. This skin type rarely
burns outdoors and tans easily.
Skin Type VI:
Black skin, black-brown eyes and hair. This skin type rarely
sunburns outdoors.
 Please Note:
Although the chart above discusses a persons "sunburning" potential,
you should always tan in moderation and avoid sunburning indoors and
out!

What is a photosensitizing medication? |
Some medications cause your skin to be especially sensitive to UV
light. If you are taking any prescription medications, ask your doctor
if it is safe for you to tan. Check out our list of some common

What is a drug-induced photosensitive
reaction? |
A drug-induced photosensitive reaction most commonly appears as an
exaggerated sunburn. It occurs when a person takes certain medications
or applies, either intentionally or unintentionally, offending
substances to the skin and is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. A
photosensitive reaction should be considered in people experiencing
sunburn of greater severity than would normally be expected for them, or
who develop rashes in areas exposed to the sun or tanning unit.

Why does your salon professional ask
you about medication use? |
Drug-induced photosensitive reactions can occur in anyone, though to
widely varying degrees of severity. People with fair complexions; red,
blonde or light brown hair; blue or green eyes; and who generally
sunburn easily and do not tan are most at risk. A history of severe
sunburn(s) may also increase the risk, as may a history of allergies,
especially contact hypersensitivities, to cosmetics or other topical
agents.

The most common photosensitizing materials
are listed below. This is not a list of every material that could have
photosensitizing effects. Again, if there is any question about a drug
or product that you use, you should consult a physician or pharmacist.
Before using the list, remember the
following: 1. NOT all individuals who
use or take these medications will experience a photosensitive reaction. Also,
an individual who experiences a photosensitive reaction on one occasion will NOT
necessarily experience it again or every time.
2. A medication will NOT cause the same degree
of skin reaction in all individuals. Brand names of products should be considered
only as examples; they do NOT represent all names under which the generic
product may be sold.
